Safety First

Grandpa, Gramps. Whatever you call him, he's a great character for this type of anti-technology Luddite-type comments. This is not to imply that I know anyone like that. I just need someone through whom I can make these jokes.

Read the Fine Print

I was driving in this morning (twice, I had to go back home because I forgot my computer) and heard a car ad with one of those fast-talking disclaimers at the end. I wondered why we don't have them in other areas of our life.

It's a Mute Point

I pulled this idea from a list of actual quotes kept by a team member from one of my projects. Well, the mute quote was there. I decided to use that as a starting point for the person on the phone "not hear" everything said in the office.

Here's Looking At You, Kid

A quote from a friend in a meeting yesterday. Well, part of it is what he actually said. The rest is poetic license. Isn't that how Douglas Adams got started?

Or Was It Dragon Drop?

Another of the typical misunderstood words-type of comics.

Early Christmas Sales

The theme of this comic is obvious. There are already stores putting up Christmas displays in July. So, I took it to an extreme and crossed the year boundary.

How Much Information is TMI?

Now that I am a PMP, will you see more project-related humor in my CoVs? Probably not, but I didn't want to give up on the pimp outfit yet.

He Passed the PMP Exam!

Based on the title of today's comic, it may not surprise you that I recently passed the PMP exam. And given that it is called PMP, it may not surprise you that I would use a way to pronounce that as the topic for amusement.

You Watch Your Mouth

Well, that went in a direction I did not see when I started today's comic. Sure, I had the idea of someone watching a Gordon Ramsey series, but I didn't know the final panel would mention a Walt Disney movie.

Need a Post-Vacation Vacay?

While I may have had this idea following my own vacation, it is long understood that PMs and software engineers who do work overnight need to get some compensatory time off the following morning. So, that also necessary after a week or two of vacation and not having to get up early for work.

The Write Stuff

I saw a box with the title Writing Prompts on the table as I passed by last night. I thought that the phrase was funny because I thought of prompt as quick to respond, not as an idea. However, I also thought of the way I might prompt someone to write. "Hey, start writing NOW."

Did He Say 4:40 or 4/40?

A key concept in project management is to break down tasks so that what you ask each person to work on and complete is more than four hours (so they do not feel micromanaged) and less than forty hours (so it can not take too long so we can determine if it is late). However, just saying four forty to someone could mean different things if you have never heard of the concept.

Reasons for Heavy Breathing

This is an idea I wrote down months ago, but then never got back to it. it was almost fully defined. Why did I wait? Maybe I was scared Dennis would find out and scare me?

Hey, What About the Cat?

Nope, I don't know when I wrote down the original idea, but I didn't think of the dog angle until this morning. The original axis labels in my idea list were keep household running and lay around when sick, but I did not have the in-between them choice yet.

Car Wars

Come on. How many people still want to play the same character after almost 40 years? Then again, how many actors don't get the chance to play but one character in 40 years?

Double Fine Area

Another idea that came from vacation. I was passing through a town where street work was being done and the sign stated it was a double fine area. Well, how would you interpret that?

More Than He Can Chew?

This was inspired by watching the conductor on a San Francisco cable car floss on the back deck as we wound our way through the city.

I Guarantee It

I know this may be a few days old, but I was out of the office last week.
