Read the Fine Print

I was driving in this morning (twice, I had to go back home because I forgot my computer) and heard a car ad with one of those fast-talking disclaimers at the end. I wondered why we don't have them in other areas of our life.

It's a Mute Point

I pulled this idea from a list of actual quotes kept by a team member from one of my projects. Well, the mute quote was there. I decided to use that as a starting point for the person on the phone "not hear" everything said in the office.

Need a Post-Vacation Vacay?

While I may have had this idea following my own vacation, it is long understood that PMs and software engineers who do work overnight need to get some compensatory time off the following morning. So, that also necessary after a week or two of vacation and not having to get up early for work.

The Write Stuff

I saw a box with the title Writing Prompts on the table as I passed by last night. I thought that the phrase was funny because I thought of prompt as quick to respond, not as an idea. However, I also thought of the way I might prompt someone to write. "Hey, start writing NOW."

Did He Say 4:40 or 4/40?

A key concept in project management is to break down tasks so that what you ask each person to work on and complete is more than four hours (so they do not feel micromanaged) and less than forty hours (so it can not take too long so we can determine if it is late). However, just saying four forty to someone could mean different things if you have never heard of the concept.

Reasons for Heavy Breathing

This is an idea I wrote down months ago, but then never got back to it. it was almost fully defined. Why did I wait? Maybe I was scared Dennis would find out and scare me?

Nope, I don't know when I wrote down the original idea, but I didn't think of the dog angle until this morning. The original axis labels in my idea list were keep household running and lay around when sick, but I did not have the in-between them choice yet.

Another idea that came from vacation. I was passing through a town where street work was being done and the sign stated it was a double fine area. Well, how would you interpret that?
