Business Realignments

Sure, the previous reorg for the company is over, but there are some changes that must be made. The internal politics of a company always demand tweaks in who does what and who reports to whom. Let the games begin. Our company is fairly stable, but there are always staff realignments, even after the "big" reorg completes.

Fifty Second Update

This should complete this series. I think I have covered the ways a person could misinterpret the sound of phrases where the second word is "second."

Thirty Second Update

Once you begin to examine workplace misinterpretation of words, a natural follow-up is to see if the same phrase can be interpreted in any other ways. Here is the next chapter.

Twenty Second Update

While this may be presented as a cartoon, you can tell from the fact that I use standard Visio characters that I am not artist nor even a cartoonist. Rather, it is a convenient means to showcase my thoughts about things...usually related to words. Today is no exception.

I thought about the different ways the phrase twenty second update could be interpreted. Today's CoV covered the misunderstanding possible.

Sugar Bombs

I woke up with no ideas for today's comic strip, but I was thinking about which metrics I wanted to generate for a daily meeting. I realized my mind was jumping too quickly between ideas and thought that maybe I should go light on sugar for breakfast. Once I decided that could work for CoV, I actually used some of the metrics charts as part of the theme for today.

Apocalypse Revisited

Once I thought of yesterday's CoV, I tried to find other ways to sound out the same Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse phrase. This is the only other one I could think of.

Apocalypse

I don't know if it is the end times or not, but I liked the word play on what the guys are called.

Playing House

It has only been 2 days since I wrote down this idea and I am not sure of its inspiration. I either heard someone on TV say something about playing house, or I saw a commercial for House, M.D. Anyway, this is how playing house has progressed through the years.

Untraceable

I recently heard about an amazing paper my nephew wrote at college. So in order to razz him a little, I put together today's cartoon intimating that he did write it himself.

Tar Powered Engines

After hearing about the press conference by the CEO of BP, I had to comment. I wondered, how could they spin this to anything more positive, or at least neutral?

HOAs and Oil Spill

Thanks to my sister for the idea. HOAs are like legal bulldogs. Don't ever try to paint your house the wrong shade of white or put up a basketball goal. They will wait until it is done and then force you to take it down. They will.

PM Satisfaction Lifecycle

How can you make a chart into a smiley face? That was my challenge for today's strip. Of course, you would need a topic that first curves downward and then goes back up. So, I chose project managers and tried to find a way to do just that without implying poor workmanship. Then, I decided to add eyes and needed to decide what they could represent. Silly but fun.

CoV Worth Reading

In the spirit of continuing to provide meaningful metrics, I have reviewed comments received on past comics. Here is an approximate breakdown (emphasis on approximate). It seems most of them are just weird, and perhaps none of them worth the time it takes to read them.

Roots of CoV

So, if I were to try and determine what types of humor show up in Clarity of Vision, how would I depict it? That is what today's cartoon indicates. Certainly, it needs to reflect office humor as well as off-beat topics. Then, if I identified high-level themes, what other TV shows or cartoon strips might be similar? You can decide if you see these elements.

Rainbow Chard

I heard some nearby cubists (people in cubicles within earshot) talking about not liking rainbow chard yesterday and decided I needed to comment on that. How often do you see rainbow chard mentioned in today's media? Exactly. Then, as I was creating today's CoV, I found I did not want to write about fish, so I made it into a name.

Diamond In The Rough

Just another cartoon about how we hear phrases if we were not familiar with them beforehand. I think I heard the radio announcer say diamond in the rough. but I was not listening closely.

Party All The Time

One of my favorite web sites is kissthisguy.com, a site for misunderstood lyrics. Now, the one in today's strip is not listed, but many other are. Some of them may be ones you hear wrong, too. Check them out.
